Operating times aside, I've been impressed by how often we can get patients home the next day or even same day using new technologies. I always hated making rounds.

Re: Gyrus/Ligasure I do, and i suspect the risk of anesthesia time is not a lot different between 12 minutes and 20 or even 30 minutes. True, I would not want someone to take 2 hours to do a hyst on me, but then again I would not want the guy who does it in 12 minutes because he is in a pissing contest with some other doc to do it either.

Uhhhh.... No!

Operative time and anesthesia time are specific measures of risk and quality improvement. Just like length and number of incisions, blood loss, etc.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
