I routinely score the uterus transversely with scalpel and then bluntly expand my Cesarean incisions transversely. I never thought about going vertically. I suspect I would end up with the same result, only with more difficultly.

And furthermore, there was no difference in the incidence of blood transfusion, nor any difference in the blood loss, so how can they say it contributes to losses of >1500ml?

I never saw a problem with the transverse blunt/finger dissection.

I'd have to see the whole article and the explanation for the increased blood loss.
