I have not looked up the references - but recently I have heard from different sources that ROUTINE breast clinical exam and self breast exams don't make any differences in the outcome of breast cancer.? Some even advocate skipping the routine breast exams altogether.? May be our esteemed colleagues can illuminate on the subject here.

PS? One of the reasons why I would examine this patient is to document atrophic vaginitis and to follow the progress.? Sometimes one may find other stuff the non specialists are missing.? But I don't think an exam is obligatory in your case.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
