Medicare bill to block pay cuts for providers fails in SenateFrom: GIN11153@aol.comFri Jun 27 13:27:12 2008
just terrible news............................. The U.S. Senate on Thursday failed to pass legislation that would have averted a 10% cut in payments to Medicare providers and increased the fees by 1.1% in January. Republican senators pushed to negotiate what they said was a "partisan proposal," resulting in a 58-40 procedural vote, two votes shy of the 60 needed to close debate and vote on the bill's passage _http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/27/washington/27medicare.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&or ef=slogin&ref=us&adxnnlx1459ob1062-0SZmljDg5b2n/jowfb1e1w_ (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/27/washington/27medicare.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&oref=slogin&ref=us &adxnnlx1459ob1062-0SZmljDg5b2n/jowfb1e1w) Gail

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
