It's a painful transition, no matter how you go. We have been adopting Cerner PowerChart for over a year now. It has some good points, but it is hard to imagine that each institution has to be a beta facility for this process. We are the sixth hospital in the Adventist system to adopt this record system and you would think that the bugs would have been seen by others before us.

Late this summer we will be transitioning to their computer order entry, that should be a fun process!! >From what I've heard from others, it will more than
double the time it takes, at least initially.

The problem I see with computer record keeping systems is that they are "logical" processes, and everyone has to adopt the logic of the creator of the program, who usually has absolutely now clinical experience or idea of how physicians think and work. Don't get me wrong, I love my computer and the things it does for me, I just don't want to do work just for the computer! Ron --- Efrain Ramirez <eramirezt@coqui.net> wrote:

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
