I read somewhere that in women with a perforated Mirena the circulating level of hormone was higher than those that had it properly placed. So i think close is really good enough.

It will Garry it only has to be in the neighborhood to work, we reviewed this last year I believe in relation to perforated Mirena's. I just saw a Mom for a post partum visit who had a mirena sitting in the left side of the pelvis, no periods for 3 years and trying to concieve, her periods returned within 3 months of removing it laproscopically and she concieved within 5 months. The paper abtstract from Israel I posted actually showed higher serum levels when its in the abdominal cavity.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
