I had a similar case to one posted by Rafaelearlier. She is 72 with 'gas' per the vagina. I haven't had achance to do the workup yet, but thats not the real question. In talkingto her she doesn't have any fluid leaking to suggest a vesicovaginal fistula orfor that matter a rectovaginal fistula based purely on symptoms.

So, what ICD-9 code to use? Her primary doc sent his note and his codewas 473.0 or a maxillary sinus fistula, so clearly he just picked the firstfistula he came to on his EMR.
