Coding ICD-9 codeFrom: Glen Elrod (dr99645@yahoo.com)Thu Mar 13 15:38:40 2008
I had a similar case to one posted by Rafael earlier. She is 72 with 'gas' per the vagina. I haven't had a chance to do the workup yet, but thats not the real question. In talking to her she doesn't have any fluid leaking to suggest a vesicovaginal fistula or for that matter a rectovaginal fistula based purely on symptoms. So, what ICD-9 code to use? Her primary doc sent his note and his code was 473.0 or a maxillary sinus fistula, so clearly he just picked the first fistula he came to on his EMR. Thanks, Glen Tired of spam? Yahoo! The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
