I do it because it helps push the ureters down and lateral; in the event of a huge extension the ureters usually behave and keep sliding lateral and down, fortunately the ureters are usually somewhere around the patients toes in most sections anyway especially if you have the good sense not to make the incision to low.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
