Coding questionFrom: Glen Elrod (dr99645@yahoo.com)Thu Mar 6 18:59:57 2008
I saw a patient today much like the one that Rafael had last week. Her symptoms were passing gas per the vagina for one month. Unfortunately, today she had too much pain and problems with diarrhea to allow any exam at all. So I took a full history and counselled her on possible causes. What is the ICD9 code for passing gas per the vagina? Her primary doc sent her with a 527.4 diagnosis for fistula, except that is a fistula of the salivary gland! She might have that too, but thats not what I'm seeing her for. Glen

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
