Well, since we don't know your real name, can I just call you A HO? And Allan, it was levity, not an imbedded insult.

Jeez, these new guys really have thin skins. Sometimes I really wish Bob Woolley was back with us. He made El seem tame

it probably does not work well. I mean, how many patients, without epidurals, have been writhing back and forth on the delivery bed for minutes or hours with an impacted head, and never delivered. As brilliant as you are, and I am not arguing the fact, the Allen Maneuver might be placed next to that worm that used to cause pre-eclampsia.IMHO. I could be wrong though.

Richard, thanks for the complements... And I will ignore the imbedded insult. Don't take me so seriously about naming a Maneuver after myself. For all you know, it may not even be my real name. I am sorry for trying to add a little humor to this serious academic discussion.

But going back to your point - an impacted head is not the same thing as an impacted shoulder. On the other hand, anecdotally, maternal ambulation does help with the descend of the fetal head.

Allan ( or not :- )

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
