Apparently, one of the risks of getting screened for Gonorrhea is getting treated unnecessarily when there is a false positive result - thus resulting in anxiety and unnecessary antibiotic use, according to the USPSTF. There is a 1-2% false positive rate for the DNA probes I have been using. If a test came back positive, would anyone out there do anything else before treating that patient? Someone suggested a confirmatory agar culture, but cultures can give a much higher false negative rate. Your inputs will be much appreciated. Thanks.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
