Thanks Robert. Can I ask for which procedure Medicaid came on board? As of a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't get it to cover Essure, and I wonder if that was the change you referred to?

Joanne, Saw your post to Glen, and your comments re Novaure and reimbursement hassles....I have done Thermochoice and Novasure, before that resectoscope and - OMG, I am getting so old! - even YAG ablations years ago. I guess only one I haven't done is cryoablation. (About which - at least as far as office use goes - I have been told some pretty negative things.) I think both Novasure and Thermochoice are reasonable in selected patients, ie, as you describe them. I almost went for the office deal with Novasure except for concerns re how reimbursement would play out....so, I was keenly interested in your comments. Does "fight like hell" for remimbursements still occur, or has stabilized to something you can count on in advance now with your payers? I did note Larry Glazerman (I believe) stated office payment was 2-3x better than OR....I have had good results with OR procedures, but Lord, the down time trying to get a case in and out of the OP surgery process is a killer...tough to call it a moneymaker once the lost office time is factored in. OTOH, my ofc mgr and I are a bit leery re office payment procedures. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem any local docs are doing these in office...though I haven't checked with Robert (Modugno) yet, come to think of it, who is close by.....Robert...now you know why you were cc'd. Have you done these in the office here, or in Georgia? Hank

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
