YEs some may -- but most of my patients (of 22 years) won't let their PCP do a gyn exam and they have no interest in switching to the other gyns in the area.

The few that do ... well so be it. We can only do so much!

In my experience the only thing that has moved many of these women to accept two year interval screening was Medicare's reimbursement policy. Unless Medicare revises its payment policies to reflect these guidelines, I think one will continue to see such reluctance...sort of a compliment to the success achieved in spreading the gospel of yearly paps.(Which under the times and circumstances was done with the best of intentions and predicated upon the best info available....I don't want to criticize those early efforts.)

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
