The ASCCP guidelines allow for either pap in 6 & 12 months or HPV in 12 months for follow-up, if negative they go back to normal screening; if positive repeat colposcopy and biopsy if necessary. To me, it's more cost effective to do serial paps than serial HPV. Ronald E. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
