At a realtively recent (past 18 months) meeting of the NEOGS (NEw England ObGyn Society) - the head of the urogyne program at Dartmouth mentioned that most general practice folks don't need to adopt this - but is great for those in academia - especially when they are comparing outcomes and what surgery was done for which defect etc.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
