..

When I was a fellow, there was an attending who routinely used Kielland forceps. He was the local expert to whom everybody looked, including the MFM faculty.

The very last delivery he performed before retiring was a Kielland forceps delivery.

It took about three years for the law suit to be completed. As I remember, he settled.

In residency, those who used Kiellands to rotate were known as "Men of Steel." I am proud to have been among them, and occasionally still use them when proper and with informed consent.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
