Re: New Jersey Requires H.I.V. Test in PregnancyFrom: Henry Gregor (henrygregor@yahoo.com)Thu Dec 27 21:55:09 2007
el, what about the opportunity to lower neonatal disease by antenatal treatment and management of HIV positive pregnant patients? A few years back, an oft quoted statistic here in the states was that half of antenatal positive HIV results occurred in patients not felt at high risk by identifiable factors, ie, no hx blood transfusion, suspect partner behavior, personal parenteral drug use, etc. Identification of such patients offers an opportunity for improvement in fetal outcome. With an occurrence of 20-30 % HIV positive pregnant patients, I 'm sure you've got some commentary worth sharing. Hank Dr Eberhard W Lisse <el@lisse.na> wrote: This is not a Public Health intervention since it does absolutely nothing to prevent the spread of the disease. And HIV is *NOT* treated as a communicable disease by this.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
