A less-expensive alternative for treating the c.diff would be metronidazole, 500 TID. If you use vanco, Epocrates ID says 125 QID is adequate, and probably a whole lot less expensive also. According to epocrates, Vanco 500 QID X 10 d would run over $2000 (no pricing info for the generic though, so maybe you could get by with less than that.) 125 QID X 10 d. would run just over $400.

I think you could get the generic metronidazole at Wal-mart in their $4 deal.
