And since we're talking about that, remember that the hydrocodone (in Lortab or Vicodin) is effective in large part because it is metabolized into hydromorphone (Dilaudid). So your patients on Lortab or Vicodin could have positive blood screens for Dilaudid from metabolism rather than exposure to the real drug.
