One must be reminded that fiber without adequate water leads to hay bricks such used in Kansas to build houses ( sod houses) and also turns the fecal matter of mules in to the same type bricks, although rounded. While on simple dietary thoughts, currently there is a demand at FDA that salt water added to turkeys be labeled or reduced. It probably isn't the salt that is dangerous to us, it is too little water to dissolve it in. After all, we do not have salt shakers between our legs. Salt needs water to dissovve it And allow us to excrete it. So eat up on Thanksgiving, even those turkeys with slt water added. Just be sure your "butler" adds the water goblets to the table and keeps them, as well as the wine glasses, full!!!! Happy Thanksgiving to all! sAm -----Original Message----- From: ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net [mailto:ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net] On Behalf Of Garry E. I recently went to an update on gyn surgery/pelvic support, etc., given by ACOG and the speakers were excellent (mostly Cleveland Clinic folks or alums).

Increasing fiber was touted for many things, especially after surgery, etc.

So. . .do people still use low residue diets, after A and P repairs, or 4th degree tears (one of our CNMs just had one).

I'm thinking that increasing fiber and adding a stool softener makes sense.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
