preteen PCOSFrom: Charlie Chambers (cchamber@embarqmail.com)Wed Nov 14 16:35:05 2007
Input on case requested. 11 yr old whose mother is a patient with PCOS. For some reason, mother managed to get a fasting insulin on her daughter which is elevated. Daughter has early secondary sex characteristics, normal height, without menarche. Has had rapid weight gain the past year. Mother brings her daughter to see me. Screen for diabetes, Cushings, hyperadrogenism were negative. Mother wants her on glucophage in anticipation of developing PCOS. What would you do? Any other suggestions? Thanks ************************************************************************ * Charlie Chambers -- Hood River, OR cchamber@alumni.rice.edu

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
