Re: Uterus in or out?

When I actively practiced OB, I left the uterus in the abdomen for repair - exteriorizing only if there were a major extention or if I were doing a C-Hyst. I witnessed not a few OB's repair an exteriorized uterus and then struggle and sweat to reposit it back into the abdomen. I also witnessed the untoward effect on patients during epidural anesthesia.

Just one OB's anecdotal observations, clearly not randomized.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
