Re: Second Trimester OligohydramniosFrom: R. Daniel Braun (rd.braun@gmail.com)Thu Oct 18 20:04:06 2007
I think there was at least one article on over a hundred of these out of Germany in the late 80's or early 90's. I have done 2 17 week amnioinfusions so that I could get a good look at the anatomy and also get a sample for chromosomes. I attempted a third one but as soon as I injected the saline I could see it run south and out the cervix, thereby documenting the etiology of the oligo. The 1st one I did had normal chromosomes and normal fetal anatomical survey, The fluid disappeared slowly over about 2 weeks. I did a second infusion and the baby died 3 days later. No etiology discovered at necropsy. 2nd case had trisomy 13 and had a TOP. Dan

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
