I work in a collaborative group with 4 CNMs employed by a physician owned practice. We each have our own policies paid for by the practice that meet guidelines for hospital admitting privileges. We are insured by the same company that insures the MDs (MLMIC) with the same coverage amount. MLMIC will only insure midwives who are employed by physician practices and have increased our malpractice rates by 1000% over the last 5 years. I think they would be happy not to have to insure us at all!

It has certainly changed practice overhead in the last few years. I wish I could say that insurance reimbursements followed, but don't get me started on that thread.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
