Re: ABC Examination ...From: Dean Huffman . (dean@thehuffpeople.net)Tue Sep 25 11:37:40 2007
.. The board is funny. Their printed rules do not always make sense or are internally correct. For general OB/GYN, you need to answer 120 questions (I think it is 120 questions). If you answer one question from an article you need to answer ALL questions from an article ON THE SAME ANSWER SHEET. If you have answered only 118 questions, the board suggested (at least one time) that they would consider the test incomplete. Therefore I would recommend that you choose one more article (they all have two questions or more) and answer ALL of the questions. Since the pass rate is 70% of the questions answered correctly, if you do not have time, just GUESS the answers to the two or three questions. I resolve the problem by answering all the questions in the first booklet, 60 questions. (Sub specialiat people need to answer 60 questions). They give you CME for doing the ABC exam, but you do not have to do any further CME as far as ABOG is concerned. Your state or hospital might feel differently on that, however. In any event, answer AT LEAST 120 questions (general OB/GYN). If you have any questions, you can call ABOG at (214) 871-1619, but I can guarantee that you will not get an answer back from them this week. You can also check http://www.abog.org Good news. They give you a second chance examination if you fail the first ABC exam (at least they have done so in the past). - - - -

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
