Listers,

Had a call from Chuck Hammond's office today soliciting support for the battle against the proposed Medicare payment cut of 10% for next year.

Gave him an earful of stuff he did not want to hear, but neither could he deny or argue about.

I told him ACOG is wasting financial resources on this and if they OBGWH continues this course, I will probably cease to support it. The only way the Medicare 'crisis' will ever be solved is when patients are unable to get physicians to care for them. When that happens, the politicians will resolve it immediately, equitably and permanently; and not a minute sooner. Until then, they will continue to 'chip away' at us by giving us 1-3% raises while inflation and overhead rise 3-5%. Patients in our area began having problems getting a physician that would see Medicare patients and because we still did, our schedule began to fill with those patients. Finally, we had to stop accepting any new Medicare patients as of Jan '07. Ditto for Medicaid 10 years ago.

What do y'all think about that?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
