Gyn: Breast MRI/TamoxifenFrom: Garry E. Siegel, M.D. (garrys@mindspring.com)Mon Sep 24 16:56:08 2007
Dear all: With the recent (3/07)publication of American Cancer Society Guidelines regading breast MRI, many patients are asking if they're candidates. If I'm reading them correctly, few are. That said, there is a program, CaGene 5, which can help with this--I think. I am familiar with, and have used the Gail Model to offer/discuss Tamoxifen prophylaxis, but this program is far more complex, or I've not read the instructions (that's what my wife would say). Are any of you using this, or similar programs, in determining if patients are MRI candidates? Or, are you referring/deferring to breast surgeons, or radiologists, or what? Garry

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
