They didn't notify me, but called paramedics who took her to a local (small) hospital. It was determined that she had a small tear in her uterus, however the hospital refused to treat her since she was a Jehovah's Witness and refused blood transfusion. They watched her die in the ER. Six children--what a waste. Don't know if this was reported as a maternal death or not. Was it reported as a lawsuit? Joe P.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
