____________________________________ _Tennessee law makes it difficult for doctors to switch practices _ ____________________________________ (http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2007707110413) It's about to become harder for some medical professionals in Tennessee to jump ship. Starting Jan. 1, doctors in certain specialties who leave group practices or clinics for another employer in the same area can be barred from practicing medicine for up to two years. <NOBR>The Tenne Jul 12, 2007

They're talking about no-compete clauses, which are put in many contracts but by law are often deemed unenforceable. Here, they are apparently changing Tenn. law to make them enforceable more often than they have been in the past.

The no-complete clause is part of a contract. So it is AGREED UPON by the doctor when he first signs up. So nothing is against his will -- he goes into it with his eyes open.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
