Too shay....or, you know...the way the French would spell it.....:-) Hank "Meenan, Anna" <annam@uic.edu> wrote: Gee, I hope you're not insinuating that FP's give substandard OB care. After all, the FP DID pick up the growth lag and make the proper referral, and an SROM with cord prolapse at 39 weeks is something no OB or FP (or midwife, for that matter) could prevent. Anna Meenan, MD, FAAFP I am expecting a grandbaby in 3-4 weeks in the Canadian health care system. My son's girlfriend was not seen by OB until her FP recognized a growth lag - measuring 27 cm at 32 weeks. Only then was she seen by OB. When I was having babies in the Canadian system, I was seen by my FP until 28 weeks, at which point I saw an OB once "in case I needed one". I did not see an OB again, until my cord prolapse, following SROM at 39 weeks. My dad, also in the Canadian system, waited 2 weeks for a bed to be officially "diagnosed" for an incidental finding picked up on an U/S for something totally unrelated - he died 10 weeks later. My son, who has a torn ACL, was told he would have to wait 9 months to get seen at an ortho clinic and perhaps another 9-12 months to get it fixed and he lives in London, Ontario, where Mr. Moore extolled the virtues of the system. I could go on and on, but you get the picture. Michael Moore is off base on this one - socialized medicine is not a panacea, but perhaps John or Frances can comment further .... The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
