I asked that male physicians respond because I expected (I admit I had a preconceived notion of responses :) ) to hear some language that would have a paternalistic edge to it. Like---"I want to help women overcome the horrible pain of birth"

I have to say, from the 1970s onward, from sea to shining sea, I have NEVER heard a male physician ever say anything remotely like that phrase.

Now, maybe Michael Moore will put it in his next movie ...

P.S. I HAVE heard women say they feel weird about going to femnale GYNs because they feel they must at heart be lesbians. That's something I HAVE heard.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
