Re: Postmenopausal pelvic free fluidFrom: Garry E. Siegel, M.D. (garrys@mindspring.com)Tue May 8 20:55:23 2007
Culdocentesis? When is the last time anybody did one of those? I think that the likelihood that she has something bad is low. Another case: 85 YO P1001 in the hospital from assisted living for "dwindles"--abnormal Na+, etc. She is spry but a bit confused. Renal ultrasound saw a bit of fluid in the endometrial cavity. Pelvic ultrasound, transabdominal, saw the same. She was too honery for a transvaginal scan. Her exam was normal (hospital bed), and I sent a pap. Any thoughts? Garry PS--has had midline laparotomy years ago for something--patient and daughter simply don't know, but the daughter thinks that she only has 1/2 of one ovary. She is not bleeding, and is NED for some type of bladder cancer. Garry

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
