O.K. We have a term pregnancy with a normal BPP (was it 8/10 because the NST was not added in yet or because there was a problem with fetal breathing, tone, movement, or fluid volume?). We have a reactive NST following a few "late" decels (How were these determined? Was she contracting? Were they consistent?). I assume we have a baby with normal growth and a mother with no diabetes, hypertension, etc. We have a totally unfavorable situation for induction. If I were to consult my risk manager I would perform a cesarean. Otherwise I see no problem with repeating a BPP and NST in 3 days and see if vaginal delivery becomes an option. The question of not wanting the roof to collapse is a good one, but you could argue that any baby near or at term could have a bad outcome. Richard Kaplan Greensboro, NC

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
