Re: Antibiotic prophylaxisFrom: Ronald Ainsworth (ainsron@sbcglobal.net)Wed Mar 28 14:49:29 2007
That's overkill, the recommendation is one dose. Otherwise it isn't prophylaxis, it's treatment.
>----- Original Message ---- Need some input from the group on antibiotic prophylaxis with emergence csections. My training was one dose one time of ampiciilling or ancef etc IV. I am finidng some partners giving 24 hours of antibiotics (ie 3 doses) Any comments??

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
