Sounds more like some type of autonomic adynamic neuropathy (how's THAT?), rather than some anatomic damage.

She had failure of peristalsis and failure of bladder function. Could be residual anesthesia effect. I'm not sure how methotrexate or rheumatoid arthritis would fit in, but you could ask the RHEUM guy. I'm also not sure how your small biopsy or trocar punctures would effect all those organs' nerve supplies at the same time. Probably some humoral etiology (again, drugs?).

P.S. Isn't she a bit young, at 24, to have rheumatoid arthritis? Or is it true JRA and maybe she's had a LONG history of exposure to various (possibly toxic) chemotherapeutic agents?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
