Changing the subjectFrom: rmodugno@aol.comMon Mar 12 18:03:45 2007
Just a plea to the list members, that when you change subjects, please change the subject heading! Who knew that "bilateral dermoids" was a discussion on the American"healthcare" system? Yes! The American 'Healthcare" system is broken! Yes! The majority of bankruptcies are due to medical bills. Yes! The CEO's of American Health Insurance Companies earn obscene salaries. Would like to know why Andy Foley? thinks it is the "best' system. I believe there is no "best" system. Agree with Stephen that defensive medicine is horrendous. Having been trained in the "British system", I believe that clinical acumen is paramount. Having said that, there certainly have been tremendous advances since I qualified as a physician in 1971. The rapid CT scanner has basically made Sir Zachary Cope's "Acute abdomen in Rhyme" virually of historic interest only and vaginal ultrasound has revolutionized the pelvic exam. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
