Re: Bilateral dermoidsFrom: Raymond Stephen (stephen.raymond@dhhs.tas.gov.au)Wed Mar 7 17:08:12 2007
Just this morning we discussed a torsion of a dermoid cyst and I pointed out that the perceived wisdom is that dermoids are bilateral 50% of the time. My practice is to shell them out and retain whatever ovarian tissue you can. There is a lot to be said for dealing with them as soon as you find them because the incidence of torsion is high. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
