Off the top of my head: 4 million birhts per year in USA. About 6000 babies per year born with downs. If we tested everyone at a conservative cost of $1000 per patient that would add 4 billion dollars addtional cost to the health care system. I can think of a better place to put the money and a better place to put the tests. ath

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
