Here we go again using population based results of relative risk to expound that changes are needed. Now if the use of BCP increases the relative risk of DVT/PE 4x and Pregnancy increase the relative risk 16 times then these 3 rd generation pills are 50% safer than the being pregnant. Now the relative risk of DVT/PE in the population is listed as 1 or 1.6/1000 women: Then the 2nd generation pills incidence is 6.4/1000 and the 3rd generation is 12.8/1000 but pregnancy rate is 25.6/1000. The question is this enough to ban the 3rd generation BCP?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
