Re: A vaccine to save lives --> Let's take stockFrom: Meenan, Anna (annam@uic.edu)Tue Feb 6 16:20:46 2007
Dr. Joe, most of the things on your list have either been around for quite awhile before they were mandated for kids, or have never been mandated for kids. I was never real keen on the idea of giving hepB vaccine to babies for pretty much the same reasons I'm against mandating HPV vaccine for 9-year-olds, though you could make a marginally better case for HepB in childhood because it's transmissible via biting and blood exposure that could potentially occur in a primary grade classroom setting. Even so, that one was also around for awhile before they started giving it to babies. Anna Meenan, MD

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
