Re: Vaccine costs

I just called BC/BS Friday to see if Gardisil would be covered for my daughter. They told me that it's covered two different ways: If the doc keeps it in stock in the office and it is given there, it is covered 100% under the preventive medicine provision. If the doc doesn't stock it and writes an rx for the pt. to pick it up in pharmacy and bring it to the office for administration, it is covered at 80% and is subject to deductible (which in my case means I would pay 100% of the cost if I had to do it that way, since I have a $1000 deductible). I don't know how the reimbursement to the doc is if it is kept in stock in the office, but y'all might want to keep this in mind in deciding how to do Gardisil.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
