I agree. Most Obs love doing OB and the joy of being involved in the birth
process. but when you think about it, look at how much time in a day and in
the course of a year we spend doing things that really do not require the
talents that we have. Specifically, all the moms we do tummy checks on and
listen for heart tones, all the multips we show up and "deliver" (catch) the
baby.
A huge amount of time and talent is "wasted" doing things that well trained
midwives could and should do and would do a better job of (antepartum
counseling for instance) than we do. agf
