Re: Difficult twins OutcomeFrom: Ina May Gaskin (midwifeim@earthlink.net)Sun Dec 31 18:25:15 2006
Good call, Andrew. It's doubtful that such a good result could have been achieved with a stat section, given the situation. I was taught internal podalic version by a family physician for twin B (when necessary) back in '73. I couldn't have predicted then that I would live in a time when obstetricians would no longer be taught this skill, considered essential for so many centuries. Are there any other professions that have discarded the teaching of core skills to new entrants? I can't think of one. Some countries are reviewing this trend (Czech Republic, Iceland and maybe some more Scandinavian countries, for instance). I wish we could here. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
