Re: GEN: Black Cohosh Found IneffectiveFrom: acmidwife@netscape.netMon Dec 18 14:30:57 2006
Too bad. Still, I am glad they are looking into alternatives and doing comparisions. More should be done. That way we will know if we are "missing things that might work" or encouraging things that have no value. Or do they? If even the placebo helped a bit.... and the Black Cohosh helped even a bit more..... maybe they encourage the woman to feel better (mentally... then physically). Interesting, Art. Thanks for the heads up on Black Cohosh... I've definitely made that recommendation in the past. It'll be interesting to read more on this study and further studies.... on this topic. ac mase CNM -----Original Message----- From: evsono@pipeline.com To: ob-gyn-l@dns.obgyn.net Sent: Mon, 18 Dec 2006 3:14 PM Subject: GEN: Black Cohosh Found Ineffective A new study in this week's Annals of Internal Medicine casts serious doubt on the efficacy of Black Cohosh as a treatment for menopausal symptoms. http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=2734934 Art

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
