This is a key statement, Anna.

I don't believe that there is much understanding in the U.S. about how our system differs from those of most other industrialized nations. Naturally, since there is little understanding of what those differences are there is also scant knowledge about how and why the U.S. system evolved differently.

As William Faulkner so eloquently expressed it, "The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past."

I believe that my colleagues on this list value the health and well-being of the women we all serve. I would love to see better communications between practitioners of all backgrounds since we all have similar goals. We want to be able to deliver top quality, safe, satisfying health care to those who desire our services. We want to feel that we can practice to the very best of our ability and in good conscience without fear of financial ruin or professional stigmatization.

There are many battles which must be fought in order to make these goals possible. I hate that we spend so much time fighting each other when we could be united in the defense of women and their choices. Battles for turf, name-calling, and economic competition do not promote a culture of problem-solving and safety.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
