What I fail to see is how issuing statements without solutions accomplishes anything besides setting a legislative roadblock in place that would make way for the process of education and credentialing. Home birth will continue to exist with or without statements and I think helping states coordinate regulation does more to protect the public than taking a stand against it. Personally I think it is not the place, it's the practitioner and it goes for all settings and all practitioners. But what do I know? ;)

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
