Re: Menorrhagia in a patient with a uterus didephysFrom: William D. McIntosh, M.D (wmcintosh@premiermed.com)Tue Nov 14 07:28:12 2006
I had a very similar patient that I took to the OR for an ablation with the HydroThermal ablation tool from Boston Scientific. We were trialing it and the Novasure as we seek alternatives to our balloon system. This is exactly the advantage the HTA has over the other options; you can attack larger uteri, uteri with fibroids, and misshapen uteri as easily as the more typical sizes and shapes. I would like to add that there are a number of problems with the HTA, and I am not sure if we are going to buy it, but this is the distinction it has over its competitors. In any event, the HTA did a great job for my patient with this problem.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
