Don't any of you have speculums in your hospital? Do a sterile speculum exam to determine cervical status, and induce immediately with oxytocin. With SROM she has already applied prostaglandins to her cervix; your success with oxy alone is just as likely, with fewer infectious complications (TERM PROM data). If you recommend cold C/S, what do you tell her about her risk in future pregnancies? Do you consider how big a family she is planning?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
