This case illustrates why the MCO's have such a cavalier attitude - the State Insurance Depts show little desire to oversee their behavior and multiple class action suits do little ( except for enriching lawyers) to punish the MCO's for failing to honor their responsibilities to both patients and doctors. Having followed MCO mergers and acquisitions, I've no doubt the US is headed for Single Payor System, just not the single payor we were thinking of. Ugh ... Art

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
